North Port High School

Statement of purpose:  THE NORTH PORT HIGH SCHOOL ATHLETIC BOOSTER CLUB is an incorporated nonprofit (501c3) organization established to support the athletic programs of our school. We are one club that provides equal support to each sports program of our school.

We are a group of dedicated parents, coaches, and community members who seek to imporove quality of our athletic program by fundraising to provide equipment, supllemental funds and services. Through the booster club's backing we encourage our athletes and coaches to higher achievement.

History:  Our club's inception took place before NPHS opened its doors. We began organizational meetings at Glenallen Elementary School in early 2001. In May of that year we signed our charter members and elected our first officers. We became incorporated in July. In our first year we had a large number of enthusiastic members. The community rallied with us because North Port was finally getting a high schoo, and everyone wanted to be involved. Our membership topped out at 137 members. Membership in 02-03 was 67, in 03-04 was 65, 04-05 was again 65, 05-06 was 39, 06-07 was 134 and is still open for this year. The first two years ran our football concessions out of a small shed. We spearheaded a project to help facilitate our gorgeous new concession and restroom buildings.

Programs and accomplishments:  As we enter our fifth year we are proud that we have accomplished much and started many traditions. We produce this Sports Program. We sponsor the annual Golf Tournament and casino night. We run concessions at all of our home sports events including regional and district meets. We run a concession at the city's 4th of July Freedom Festival in addition to sponsoring three banquets annually to honor our athletes and coaches. We provide scholar athlete t-shirts to acknowledge 3.0 or higher GPA. We fund award pins, plaques, certificates and varsity letters. We fund coaches' clinics and memberships to FACA. W apply funds for equipment, conditioning, uniforms and athlete financial aid. We have a college scholarship fund and last year we presented $3,000 to NPHS graduating seniors, and the list goes on. We have accomplished a lot in our short history and plan to do a lot more! We have many projects and fundrasing ideas planned.
